  • Ham Radio Trivia
Over the course of many years the Lake County Amateur Radio Club has  participated in SEVEN ARISS missions, as well as one of the original Space
Shuttle Missions.  In 1993 we made our first space contact with the Space  Shuttle in a program called SAREX (Shuttle Amateur Radio Experiment.  With the
inception of the International Space Station we moved onto ARISS (Amateur Radio  in the International Space Station).  The links below are to some of our
contacts.  Remember, many of these contacts were taped back in the day when VHS  was the recording media of choice.  Don't expect HD!.

Also, we have to add a thanks to Charlie Suffana, AJ9N, our club member who  started the ARISS group and who is one of the mentors for the ARISS programs.  Even when Charlie was not available to be with us in person, he was with us in  equipment.  Most of the equipment used is his and it has even been shipped to other clubs for ARISS contacts.  Charlie is now in California, but he continues as an ARISS mentor for schools nationwide.

As time permits (and I find more tapes in my  closet) I will do my best to digitize and upload the contacts.  I hope you find  them enjoyable, the kids and parents sure did!
